After normal life returned in Handwara and Kupwara towns, hundreds of students from Government Degree College in north Kashmir’s Handwara town Thursday marched through the town to protest the recent killings by forces.
Witnesses said that the students took out a march towards Nayeem Qadir’s home. “They marched from Degree College Handwara, of which Nayeem was a student, to Nayeem’s residence.”
The students also held a Fateh Khawani for slain Nayeem and others who were killed last week.
Witnesses said the students marched peacefully without harming anyone and raised massive pro-freedom slogans.
Meanwhile, a contingent of forces has been deployed in the town and other adjoining areas. No untoward incident has been reported so far.
However, the Handwara town has shut spontaneously following the protests.
