Dr Haseeb Drabu addressing people in Arihal village of Rajpora constituancy.

The order to this effect was issued by the Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Revenue Department in exercise of the powers conferred by Section-3(I) (c) of the J and K land revenue Act Samvat-1996, official sources told Kashmir Wire.

They said as per the order, the new revenue village of Achagoza shall comprise 4154 kanals of land area while the village Bamnoo shall comprise 2782 kanals of land area.

The order said that separate Record of Rights shall be prepared for the new villages while the inhabitants of the new villages shall continue to have joint rights over the Kahcharai land and other common lands like pathways, roads, irrigation channels, springs and drinking water as were being enjoyed by them traditionally prior to the carving out of the new villages.

The bifurcation of these villages has been done on the initiative of Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb Drabu, who represents the Rajpora constituency in the State Legislature.

The people of the area have expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and the Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb Drabu for the landmark decision. They said the decision would go a long way in the focused socio-economic development of the village and its inhabitants who were otherwise” neglected.”

Pertinently, the Government had earlier this year, on the initiative of Dr Drabu, created a separate revenue village of Lassidaban in the same area.
