The incessant rains caused heavy landslides in North Kashmir’s Uri on Sunday.

Locals said that they are facing huge problems due to the communication breakdown.

Giving details, a local said that Uri-Darkote, Uri-Hajipeer, Lagama-Thala, Mike-Meerana Shah Sahib (RA) roads are completely blocked due the landslides which occurred due to continuous rains.

Kashmir valley witnessed continuous rains since early Saturday. The Srinagar based Meteorology department had predicted that weather would improve from Sunday afternoon, however, rains continue to lash plains and hilly areas alike.

The locals from Uri further said that other local routes too were affected due to rainfall.

When contacted, AEE R&B sub-division Uri, GM Bhat, told Kashmir Life, “we are ready to clear the debris which have caused the communication breakdown in some areas of Uri, however, continuous rain fall is hampering our work.”

Meanwhile, the locals from Darkote Nambla, Churunda, Silikote, Jabla, Guhalan areas alleged that there is no electricity in their respective areas for last two days. The said areas are fed power from Salamabad Grid.
