Landslides blocked vital Batote-Kishtwar road while ine person was killed in a Doda accident.
Reportys reaching here said that Batote- Kishtwar Highway, connecting Doda and Kishtwar with rest of J&K, was closed Sunday morning when a huge landslide blocked the road at Ragi-Nullah – 21 km from Doda.
The road opened yesterday after it was locked by landslides two days ago. “A massive landslide and a huge boulder blocked the road near Ragi-Nullah on Batote-Doda stretch,” reports said.
More than 150 passenger vehicles and those carrying essential commodities were stranded on both sides of the highway.
The continuous rainfall caused the landslides and is hampering the rescue work, officials were quoted a shaving said.
Meanwhile, one person was killed while two others sustained injured in an accident late Saturday night on Thathri – Gandoh road in Doda.
A van bearing registration number JK – 06-8762 was on its way to Kahara from Thathri late last night when it met with an accident at Machipal in Dunadi area – 45 km from Doda – at 11.30 pm last night.
“One person died on the spot while two others were injured,” reports informed.
