The Kargil- Leh highway was closed last night when heavy showers coupled with cloud bursts brought flash floods and accumulation of mud lead to closure of roads in Kargil.
As per a statement, 2 feet of mud was reported at Town Kargil, while in Titikchumik 5-6 feet of mud accumulated on roads and in Hunderman 7-8 feet of mud lead to blockade of road. Heavy land slide triggered by rains lead to the closure of Kargil- Leh Highway at Pushkum area as the road was washed away.
Police have informed that the Kargil police rescued nine persons while as one injured person was hospitalized.
