The Income Tax department on Tuesday conducted a raid at the private offices of Deputy Mayor Srinagar in Srinagar.
Reports said that sleuths of IT department visited the private offices of deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran and were scrutinizing the relevant documents. The raids were conducted at Bohri Kadal area of the old city and Sangarmal office. Reports also claimed that a separate raid was also conducted at deputy Mayor’s private office at Nowgam.
Today’s raids come two days after officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out searches at the corporate headquarters of the J&K Bank in Srinagar city.
Meanwhile, Shaikh said that he is fully supportive of all investigations to ensure transparency and adherence to income tax laws. “I extend my full cooperation to the income tax department. I’m a law-abiding businessman and will continue to ensure the laws are upheld,” he said.
