SRINAGAR: Thirty-eight personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been awarded the Medal for Gallantry (GM) as part of the Independence Day 2026 honours, according to the official list of awardees.
The JK Police awardees include personnel from different ranks, including Deputy Inspector General, Senior Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police, Inspector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Head Constable, SgCT and Constable.
Among them, Head Constable Rayeesh Ahmad Reshi has received the Gallantry Medal for the first time, while Deputy Superintendent of Police Sarfaraz Bashir has been awarded the second bar to the medal.
SgCT Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan and Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohinder Singh have been awarded the first bar to the Gallantry Medal.
The JK Police awardees include Shiv Kumar, IPS; Shobhit D. Saksena, IPS; Nasir Ahmad; Kalu Din; Adit Kumar Nad; Divya D, IPS; Mohd Usman; Shabir Ahmad Malik; Manzoor Ahmad Ganie; Khurshid Ahmed Wani; Mushtaq Ahmad Shah; Ab. Rashid Mir; Mushtaq Ahmad; Mohamad Shafi Banday; Abdul Rashid; Zahoor Ahmad; Pande Rajiv Omprakash, IPS; Dheeraj Kumar; Shakir Hassan; Vikram Nag; Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and Tariq Ahmad, among others.
The official document lists 272 Gallantry Medals in the Police Service category for personnel from various States and Central Armed Police Forces. The JK Police awardees are listed at serial numbers 151 to 188.
The document also includes 29 Fire Service personnel from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh for Gallantry Medals, taking the total number of gallantry medal recipients listed in the document to 301.
The honours recognise acts of bravery and exceptional courage and are being announced as part of the Independence Day 2026 awards.
