“Impressed” by the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) “vision and agenda” Abdul Hamid Malik Tuesday withdrew from the elections to Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency in favour of the PDP’s candidate, Muzzafar Hussain Baig, a PDP Spokesman said.

He said Malik, a young political activist from Handwara, had filed his nomination as an independent candidate.

Malik later joined PDP in presence of the party’s senior leader, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, MLC at Dak Banglow, Handwara the Spokesman added.

Speaking on the occasion Malik said, “It was need of the hour to work under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to create a conducive atmosphere on the ground.”

Welcoming Malik in to the party fold Mir said it is an encouraging trend that people from different walks of life particularly the youth are joining the PDP in good numbers.

Lok Sabha election for Baramulla seat is schedule tomorrow.
