District administration has slapped Public Safety Act (PSA) on a youth in Shopian and lodged him to district jail Udhampur. The youth was arrested just ahead of the Lok Sabha polling on South Kashmir seat.

Sources said that Zubair Ahmad Turray son of Bashir Ahmad Turray, a resident of Bonebazar, are of the South town, Shopian was arrested in the middle of April.

Police sources said that there are many cases filed against Turray. They added that Turray is a stone pelter and “creates trouble” in the town whenever he gets any chance.

However, locals and the family sources told Kashmir Life that Turray has become prey to the police only because of his political ideology.

Sources said that it is for the second that Turray is slapped with PSA. Earlier on April 2013 he was sent to jail under PSA and he got freed only after the intervention of Judiciary.

District Magistrate Shopian in its order No. 01/DM/PSA/2014 and dated April 29, 2014 slapped PSA on Turray and lodged him to district jail Udhampur.
