The director generals of military operations of India and Pakistan on Monday discussed the situation along the Line of Control in Kashmir.
Talking over the hotline, the DGMO of the Indian Army conveyed to his Pakistani counterpart India’s commitment towards ensuring peace and tranquility on the LoC.
“DGMO Indian Army conveyed his commitment of ensuring peace and tranquility which is contingent on Pak Army’s intentins and actions. If Pak Army continues to abet infiltrations and cause trans-LC firings, Indian Army will take appropriate retaliatory actions,” the Army said in a statement.
The DGMO level talks come at a time when there have been repeated instances of ceasefire violations over the last few months. Forces of both the countries have resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling on forward posts and civilian areas in various sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry had summoned Indian deputy High Commissioner on June 1, over unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian Army in Battal, Jandrot and Kotli sectors which, Pakistan claimed had killed two civilians and injured five others.
