Tension gripped the Poonch area along the Line of Control (LoC) as Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy firing on Friday. The cross LoC firing incident took place after some months of lull.

Defense sources said that Pakistani troops opened unprovoked firing at Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district Friday.

“Pakistan Army started unprovoked firing at our positions using small arms and automatics at Shahpur area of Poonch sector. The firing started at 9.15 a.m. Our troops have responded with equal caliber weapons,” They added.

Sources said that no loss of life was reported in area however the firing was going on when the reports last came in.

India and Pakistan are alleging one another about the cross LoC firing incidents since long.
