SRINAGAR

After two days of hiatus, the LoC is booming with shells again.

Reports from Poonch suggest that the rival armies have resumed shelling at each others positions and currently the main area of focus is the Krishna Ghati (KG) sector. The shelling is going on from both sides in forward areas of Sagra and Balnoi falling in Mendhar belt. Most of the population from these villages has already migrated to safer areas.

A report suggests that a soldier has died in the shelling but it was not immediately confirmed by the police sources.

The area suffered human and property losses in shelling by Pakistan in last two weeks. However, the firing had ceased for the last 48 hours enabling the local administration to visit the area and respond to the immediate requirements of the shell-shocked population.

It was during this hiatus that the soldiers in the Balakote belt scanned the area and defused numerous mortar shells that had landed in the area but did not explode. These shells if not tackled could exploded later naturally or by fiddling and result in losses.
