In a statement posted by the Ministry of External Affairs on X, the government reiterated its consistent stand in favour of de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy as key to achieving an early resolution.

The statement noted that prolonged tensions in the region have caused significant humanitarian suffering and disrupted global systems, including energy supply chains and international trade routes.

Highlighting the broader impact, India emphasized the importance of ensuring uninterrupted global commerce, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz.

While endorsing the ceasefire, the government underscored that sustained diplomatic engagement remains crucial for securing long-term peace.

Notably, the United States and Iran have agreed to a Pakistan-brokered ceasefire, with delegations from both sides scheduled to meet in Islamabad on Friday for their first direct diplomatic engagement.
