Hurriyat (m) Chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said that the Kashmir dispute was a living reality and India cannot deny its significance and disputed status. He said that while the political rights of the people across the globe were more and more recognised and respected as was seen in case of the Scotland referendum,the right to self determination of the people of Kashmir would be accepted sooner than later and could not be ignored for long.
In his Jumait-ul-Vida address in Jamia Masjid today, Mirwaiz asserted that Kashmir was the basic issue between India and Pakistan. “The leadership of both the countries should exhibit political farsightedness and realise that the people of kashmir have to be taken on board to solve the dispute once for all,” an amalgam statement quoted Mirwaiz as having said.
While referring to India Prime Minister Narender Modi visit to Jammu, Mirwaiz said, “the Indian leadership should read the writings on the wall and should accept the fact that Kashmir dispute cannot be resolved through military means, or by imposing AFSPA or other black laws. Indian leadership should shun the politics of arrogance and should take steps to solve the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris.”
Mirwaiz alleged that Indian communal parties were fanning the politics of hatred in Jammu region, adding, “they were on the agenda of creating a chasm and tearing apart the centuries old tradition of communal bonhomie.”
Stressing upon people to continue to show complete commitment and resolve towards freedom struggle, Mirwaiz said, “our struggle was based on justice and truth and steadfastness of resolve would result in our success.”
He stated that militarization and coercion could in no way weaken the resolve of Kashmiris, adding, the struggle would continue till it would reach its logical conclusion.
Meanwhile several Hurriyat leaders spoke about the significance of Youm-e-Kashmir and Youm-e-Qadoos across the valley and presented a resolution for the public approval. In this regard Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari addressed people and presented the resolution at Sajadia Masjid Chattabal, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza at Jamia Masjid Islamabad, Javaid Ahmad Mir at Bilal Masjid the Bund,Engineer Hilal Ahmad War at Haji Masjid Maisuma, GN Zaki at Baba Yousuf Sopore, Qutun-ul-Alam at jamia Masjid Sopore, GN Waseem at Jamia Masjid Kupwara, GH Mir at Tujar Shareif Sopore, and Gn war at Kupwara. Besides Hurriyat leaders also presented resolution in Masjids, Khanqahs, and Imam Baras across Jammu and Kashmir to get the public approval.
Jumait-ul-Vida was observed across Jammu and Kashmir as Youm-e-Kashmir and Youm-e-Qadoos during which a memorandem was passed by people, regarding the resolution of Kashmir and Palestinan issues, release of political prisoners, Plight of Rohingya Muslims etc, presented by APHC (m),in Khanqahs, Shrines, Imambaras and Masjids.
