SRINAGAR: An IndiGo flight from Madinah, Saudi Arabia, to Hyderabad was diverted to Ahmedabad on Thursday after a bomb threat, newspaper Deccan Herald reported.
The aircraft landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at around 12:30 pm, and all passengers and crew were deboarded for a thorough security check, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Atul Bansal told Deccan Herald
According to Bansal, the threat was received via email while the flight was en route, claiming a bomb had been planted on board. “Since Ahmedabad was the closest airport, the pilot decided to land here as a precautionary measure,” he said.
Following the alert, local police assisted the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in inspecting the aircraft. Nothing suspicious was found during the initial search.
Authorities confirmed that all passengers and crew were safe, and investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the threat.
