SRINAGAR: Army on Wednesday foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in the Mandi area of Poonch district by killing two militants, while the search operation in the area is going on.
In a statement, a Jammu-based defense spokesperson said that two militants were observed crossing the Line of Control late last night in the Mandi area. He said that a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and police immediately to intercept the terrorists.
“Hostile terrain, dense jungle, and steep gradient was utilized by militants to bring down heavy volume of fire on own troops. In the ensuing firefight which continued till the next day both terrorists were eliminated,” he said.
He added that the body of one militant along with war-like stores was recovered, while a search operation for recovering body of second militant in progress—(KNO)
