Minister of State for Information Priya Sethi while disclosing the fact that Jammu and Kashmir Department of Information & Public Relations lacks man power, said that department has a liability above Rs 10 Crore  on account of the government advertisements published in different newspapers.

However, the minister said that she has taken up the issue with the Chief Minister and is hopeful that the matter will be resolved soon.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) Priya said: “The day I joined the ministry I found that the Information department is in short of staff including the information officers, cameramen. I have taken up this matter with the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syeed and I hope soon we will fill the vacancies.”

She also said that Information department’s liability of the outstanding on account of the government advertisements published in different newspapers is above Rs 10 Crore. “The liabilities on account of government advertisements have crossed above Rs 10 Crore. The government does not want the newspapers to suffer. I have also taken this matter with the Chief Minister and requested him about the immediate release of the funds,” she claimed.

The owners of the newspapers complain that non-payment of bills from the last several months has pushed them into difficulties.
