Forces on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a militant and bused hideout in village Ikhala Palmad in Kishtwar district, reported Daily Excelsior.

Reports said a joint team of Kishtwar police, 17 Rashtriya Rifles and 52 Central Reserve Police Force launched an operation at village Ikhala in Palmad area of Kishtwar this morning after developing specific information about the presence of the militant in a hideout, said the report.

During searches, police arrested the militant and busted his hideout, it said.

According to the report, arrested militant has been identified as Tariq Hussain Wani son of Mohammad Amin Wani, a resident of Sondar Dachchan in Kishtwar district.

From the hideout, forces recovered one .303 rifle, one magazine, 64 live cartridges and 11 charger clips, said the report.

The militant was arrested in an injured condition. He had sustained gunshot on his left foot and was immediately shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar, reported Daily Excelsior.

It said that the militant was injured in an accidental fire.

A case against the arrested militant has been registered under FIR No. 268/2019 at Kishtwar police station under Sections 7/25 Indian Arms Act and 18, 20, 23, 38 and 39 Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, reported Daily Excelsior.
