Unidentified persons Friday snatched one INSAS rifle of a policeman during clashes in Makhama area of Budgam district.
Police sources confirmed the incident and said the cop has been injured.
He identified the cop as Constable Liaqat Ahmad and said that he was hit on head.
The injured cop is being treated for injuries at Sub-district hospital Magam.
Reports and witnesses said that a procession was taken out from Makhama today after Friday prayers.
However, some youth pelted stones on cops deployed in the area, who responded by firing teargas shells.
They said intense clashes were going on at Badran stop in Magam when last reports came in.
