Intense clashes erupted in Batamaloo area of Srinagar city Friday afternoon.
Reports said that after Friday prayers some youth pelted stones on police and paramilitary forces deployed in strength in the area.
They said that police resorted to massive teargas shelling to disperse the stone-pelting civilians.
Clashes were going on when the last reports came in.
