Intense clashes in Sopore town after Friday prayers

Intense clashes erupted in Sopore town of Baramulla district on Friday after locals started protesting and started raising pro-freedom slogans, reports said.

Police intercepted the protesters who retaliated by pelting stones. Police used massive tear smoke shells to disperse protesters.

Locals said that protesters started marching from the Jamia Masjid and raised anti-India slogans. They also raised slogans in favour of two local militants Aijaz Ahmed Mir and Basharat Ahmed Shiekh. Both Mir and Sheikh were killed by government forces during a shootout on Thursday.
