The Inter-Ministerial Central Team headed by Joint Secretary, ministry of Home Affairs government of India Bhagwan Shankar yesterday visited Kishtwar District to assess the damages and to review the post earthquake measures taken by the state government in the region.

The team also convened a meeting of officers and conducted aerial and ground survey to assess the damages in the District.

DDC Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad in a presentation   apprised the Inter-Ministerial team about the measures and response of the District administration aftermath   5.6 Magnitude quake that struck the Chenab valley on May 1, 2013 with the epicenter at Bhaderwah.

Earlier, the team conducted an extensive tour of the quake affected areas in the Kishtwar town and peripheral areas and later conducted aerial survey of  Padder, Chatroo, Warvan and other far flung areas of the District.

The Inter – Ministerial Central Team headed by Bhagwan Shankar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, includes  Jugal Kishore Sharma, Deputy Adviser Planning Commission of India, BL Meena, Asstt Director Ministry of Finance and BK Singh from Ministry of Rural Development government of India as members.

Shankar revealed that the team will finalize its report within 7 days and submit the same to the government of India with elaborate observations and recommendation.

Shankar appreciated the District Administration, Police and Army for their speedy and prompt   relief / rescue and rehabilitation process to help the affected people in the region.
