Authorities on Sunday suspended mobile internet service in south Kashmir’s Shopian district following the gunfight between the government forces and militants in Batagund village of Kapran village in Shopian.

Reports said both the low-speed and high-speed Internet services were blocked in the entire district after a gunfight broke out between militants and the government forces in Batagund village of Kapran.

A police official said the suspension of the mobile Internet facility is a precautionary measure to prevent miscreants from creating any law and order problems.

The gunfight started after a joint team of army’s 34RR, CRPF and SOG Shopian launched a cordon and search operation in Batagund area of Kapran after receiving specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants.
