SRINAGAR: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang K Pole today inaugurated Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme for the children of 0-5 years age at JLNM Hospital, Rainawari, Srinagar by administering Polio drops to newborn infant, here.

Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather;  MS , JLNM Hospital and medical and Paramedical staff of the hospital were  present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion,  Div Com said that about 11 lakh children will be administered Polio drops across Kashmir Division at 5391 Polio booths to eliminate the disease and protect children.

He said that 22059 vaccinators have been put on the duty to cover all the eligible population of children in Kashmir division.

Besides, he said 298 transit teams and 143 mobile teams have been constituted to make the immunization drive successful.

Meanwhile, he appealed to parents to take their children to the near by booths, health center or hospital for Pulse Polio drops and save their children from the disease.

At Budgam, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza inaugurated the first phase of pulse polio programme at Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Budgam by administering Polio drops to children up to 5 years of age.

Chief Medical Officer, Budgam Dr Tajamul Hussain Khan, Dy. Chief Medical Officer Budgam, Dr. Tehmeena Bukhari, DTO, DIO, DPMU and other staff were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion, the DC deliberated upon the importance of administering polio drops to children up to 5 years to save them from polio throughout their life.

He urged parents to take their children to the nearby health booths to ensure their children remain safe and healthy.

After launching the drive Dy. Chief Medical Officer Budgam Dr. Tehmeena Bukhari said that as many as 121261 children up to 0-5 year’s age group are being covered under Pulse Polio Immunization Programme in District Budgam.

She said that in order to ensure polio drops are administered to every child, the Health Department in Budgam has deployed over 2500 officers and workers   included Health Workers, ASHA workers, ICDS workers and voluntaries at more than 600 booths including 8 transit Booths.

At Kupwara, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din  inaugurated Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization  (IPPI) drive by administering anti Polio drops to an infant, here at Sub District Hospital Kupwara in presence of Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Block Medical Officer and DIO.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner was informed that 140017 children below 5 years of age will get immunized under Pulse Polio programme in the district.

It was also informed that 738 Immunization booths have been established across the district for which 2952 workers including 970 ASHA and 640 AWW have been deployed to carry out the immunization programme smoothly.

Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that special teams have been deputed to far flung and border areas like Keran, Machill and Karnah to ensure complete immunization of the children. He stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure cent percent coverage of the target population of the children below the 5 year age group under the Pulse Polio programme.

He also directed them to conduct door to door survey to ensure cent percent coverage.

At Pulwama, the Pulse Polio immunization campaign was launched by the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary at  CMO office Pulwama  where he administered  polio drops to the children.

Chief Medical Officer, Dy CMO, District Immunization Officer, Nodal Officer RBSK, Doctors and Paramedical staff were also present on the occasion.

After launching the drive, DC said  that 89228 children of 0-5 years are to be administered  Pulse Polio drop  in district Pulwama for which 1966 personal of health department & Supervisors have been deployed at 468 Pulse Polio centres.

He said the Government has initiated various measures for better health facilities of the children’s across the state.

He called upon the people to come forward and avail Medicare facilities kept available by the Govt. for them in Health institutions free of cost and ensure immunization against dreaded diseases to safeguard their children.

At Ganderbal, Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Khurshid Ahmad Shah kick started the campaign for Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization here at District Hospital Ganderbal.

He started the campaign by administering oral anti-polio vaccine drops to the children in presence of the CMO, Dr. Afroza Shah, DyCMO, Dr. Nighat Yasmeen and MS DH Dr. Yasmeen Kangoo.

It was informed that 48781 children upto age of five years will be vaccinated during the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization programme in the district to protect them from the disease.

The CMO informed that 237 vaccination booths have been established in all medical blocks with adequate deployment of officials of various departments including Anganwadi workers, Ashas and Supervisory staff besides 04 transit points have been also established for smooth and hassle free vaccination in the district.

The ADDC directed the officers of the health department to ensure 100 percent coverage of the immunization programme and also asked for door-to-door survey particularly in remote and high-risk areas to leave no child uncovered under the campaign in the district.

Meanwhile, ADDC also inspected the functioning of District Hospital and enquired about the health care facilities provided to the patients there.

At Shopian, DDC, Chairperson Bilqees Jan along with the  Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Sachin Kumar vaishya, SSP Shopian inaugurated Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization programme, at District Hospital Shopian where the DDC Chairperson and Deputy Commissioner started the campaign by administering oral anti-polio vaccine drops to  new born infants in presence of CMO, Superintendent, Dy. CMO , DIO and other health functionaries.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of the health department to ensure cent percent coverage of children under immunization programme and also asked for door-to-door survey so not a single  child is left  uncovered.

It was informed that about 39785 children in the age group of 0-5 years are being covered under Intensive Plus Polio (IPPI) Programme in the district for which 235 vaccination booths have been set up. Besides, 952 total workers have been deployed on duty which include, , ASHA worker’s, AW works, Health Workers, besides 52 supervisors.

At Bandipora, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad inaugurated the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme by administering polio drops to a child at District Hospital, Bandipora.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr Parveiza, DIO, Dr Parvaiz, Medical Superintendent and staff members of DH were present on the occasion.

DDC informed that 62000 children upto 5 years of age are being administered polio vaccines to protect them against the crippling disease.

He said 360 vaccination centres have been established in the district including in snow bound Gurez Valley besides 22 mobile transit teams.

At Kulgam, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat started IPPI campaign   by administering polio drops to new born children at District Hospital Kulgam.

ADC, Showkat Ahmad Rather; Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Kulgam, Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad Zargar;  CMO, Dr Rafeeq and other staff from the Health Department were present on the occasion.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner added that more than 80 thousand children will be administered Pulse Polio drops.

It was given out that 508 booths have been established in five medical blocks besides transit points have also been established for smooth and hassle free  coverage of all eligible children.

The DC directed the officers of the health department to ensure cent percent coverage of the immunization programme and also asked for door to door survey to leave no child uncovered under the pulse polio programme.

At Anantnag, Additional Deputy commissioner, Anantnag, Gh Hassan Sheikh formally inaugurated the pulse polio immunization Programme  at MCCH  Anantnag.

ADC while speaking on the occasion said that 148198 polio doses will be administered at 650 Booths for which the Health department is fully prepared enough with 2600 health workers at ground to make the immunization drive a successful one.

ADC while appreciating the work done by Health department during the  covid pendamic said that polio free population is an  agenda of this programme and a lot has been achieved in this  regard by mass awareness and mass  participation.

While interacting with the media, Sheikh said that parents must bring their children’s from 0 to 5 years of age  to the nearest polio booths and have two drops of polio vaccine to help us in making the country polio free.

Dy CMO,   Doctors of MCCH and other staff members of the department were present on the occasion.

At Baramulla, Additional District Development Commissioner, Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf Kick started Pulse Polio Programme at Government Medical College Baramulla by administering Polio drops to new born child.

Chief Medical Officer Baramulla Bashir Ahmad Malik, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jozy Bashir, Medical Superintendent GMC Baramulla, District Immunization Officer among other concerned of health department were present on the occasion.

After inaugurating the drive, ADDC Baramulla highlighted the importance of administering polio drops to children up to 5 years to save them from polio throughout their life.

On the occasion, Chief Medical Officer Baramulla briefed that as many as 162175 children up to 0-5 year’s age group are being covered under Pulse Polio Immunization Programme in District Baramulla.

He further said that in order to ensure that polio drops are administered to every child, the Health Department Baramulla has deployed 1175 health workers, 1186 Asha Workers and 169 Supervisors at 856 vaccination booths including 11 transit booths in Medical blocks of the district.

Furthermore, the ADDC directed the officers of the health department to ensure cent percent coverage of the Immunization Programme and also asked for door to door survey to leave no child uncovered under IPPI drive 2022.
