SRINAGAR: IPS officer Rajinder Kumar Gupta has been given additional charge of Deputy Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) and AP and T, Puducherry, alongside his existing responsibilities.
Gupta, who is serving as Senior Superintendent of Police (Training and Welfare), Puducherry, and also holds additional charge of SSP (Headquarters), will handle the assignment from August 31 to September 25, 2026, or until the return and joining of R. Sathiyasundaram, IPS, whichever is earlier.
Sathiyasundaram is currently attending the 19th Mid-Career Training Programme, Phase IV, at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad. During the period, Gupta will perform the duties and functions of DIG (Law and Order) and AP and T in addition to his regular responsibilities.
A 2014-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, Gupta has held several significant assignments in Jammu and Kashmir. His postings have included SSP Kishtwar, SSP Railways Jammu, Deputy Director (Indoor Trainings) at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur, and Regional Passport Officer, Jammu.
Gupta was transferred to the Puducherry segment earlier in 2026 and subsequently posted as SSP (Training and Welfare).
