Sources cited by CBS News said roughly 40 Iranian officials died in the strikes, while Israel stated that seven additional senior figures were also killed.

Trump indicated that military operations would continue, calling the development a turning point for the Iranian people.

Iran retaliated with strikes across parts of the Middle East, with reported attacks in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Kuwait — locations hosting US military facilities or allied with Washington.

The Iranian Red Crescent said more than 200 people were killed nationwide. Iranian authorities reported that at least 108 deaths occurred after a girls’ school was struck.

State-linked media also reported that Iran has declared 40 days of public mourning and announced seven days of official holidays following Khamenei’s reported death.
