Srinagar

While strongly condemning the killing of three civilians, including a teenage girl, in Hawoora area of Redwani in Kulgam, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, on Saturday said such reckless killings have potential to deteriorate the already worsened situation further in the state.

Tarigami in a statement said that since the imposition of the Governor’s Rule on June 20, the violence was on the decline and civilian killings were also on the decrease.

“But the latest incident is a big shock and setback to any effort to restore peace in the Valley. Not only two young boys have become victims of bullets in Hawoora but a teenage girl too was shot dead, which is so unfortunate,” said Tarigami.

“Is the blood of Kashmiris so cheap and are Kashmiris so expendable? The policymakers need to understand it that nothing can be achieved by excessive use force and it is the only political dialogue which can bring peace. Killings will only deteriorate the situation further,” said Tarigami in a statement.

“Losing precious human lives is most unfortunate. Such brutal killings have in the past inflamed the situation and if immediately such type of incidents are not stopped, there is apprehension that situation in the Valley may turn ugly again,” Tarigami said.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families,Tarigami demanded an immediate end to impunity to the security forces in such cases.
