Renowned Author and columnist Prem Shankar Jha Saturday revealed that under Pakistan’s Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) pressure Hurriyat leadership dumped that ‘list of demands’ which was sought by Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh from them after the two rounds of meetings between Hurriyat and Government of India during UPA-I regime.

Jha told Srinagar based news agency CNS that there were two rounds of talks between the Government of India and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq led Hurriyat faction.

“Soon after the meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told Mirwaiz to prepare a list of demands, however that list never reached to PMO. Hurriyat leaders succumbed to the pressure of ISI and never send the list to PM,” Jha said.

He said that ISI threatened them of dire consequences as a result the talks fail and the list was dumped. “It is unfortunate that militants killed some of the great leaders of Kashmir Valley. The Mirwaiz family suffered heavily yet the present Mirwaiz who is the man of principal and a mature politician remained steadfast and is still trying to find ways and means to get engaged with New Delhi,” he said.
