The Khudwani and Koimoh areas of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district are observing complete shut down against the detention of six youth by “Special Operations Group” (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Locals alleged that the SOG men raided the houses of the youth and arrested them from their respective homes. “The arrested youth include brothers of one Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, who are alleged to have carried out the attack in Islamabad town on 4th June in which two policemen were killed.” The police thereafter launched the manhunt in the area.

The detained  youth have been identified as Aqib Sofi, son of Abdul Rashid Sofi, Arif Sofi, son of Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, Shafat Sofi, son of Muhammad Yousuf Sofi, Majid Ali, son of Ali Muhammad Matto, Omar Rasheed, son of Abdul Rasheed Wani and Yamin Yousuf alias Bilal, son of Muhammad Yousuf Dar, all residents of Khudwani in Kulgam district.

Meanwhile, reports said that the arrested youth have been shifted to CARGO Srinagar for interrogation.

After the attack on Police on June, 4, the visuals of the militants at the spot of attack went viral, following which the police claimed to have identified the militants.
