South Asia’s largest Indian owned media and stakeholder research agency, Centre For Voting Opinion & Trends In Election Research (CVOTER), has termed the ruling party candidate and incumbent chief minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti “as a favourite candidate” in Islamabad By-Polls.

CVOTER which started as an initiative to act as an interface between the people and the polity has concluded in its Snap Poll that “71.3% people support Ms Mufti, followed by Congress’s Hilal Shah (20.7%), NC’s Iftikhar Misgar (4.0%) and others (3.0%)”.

Islamabad assembly segment goes to polls on Wednesday. The seat fell vacant with the demise of former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 07, 2016. Ms Mufti is a Lok Sabha from South Kashmir but is currently chief executive of J&K.

The Snap Poll further concluded that Ms Mufti has an “edge over other contesters in terms of honesty, development works and community care”.

In terms of honesty, the poll says, the PDP chief (53%) has an “edge” over others, followed by Congress’ Shah (25%), others (16%) and NC’s Misgar (6%).

In terms of development works, Ms Mufti again led the poll with 58%, followed by Congress’s Shah (26%), others (9%) and NC’s Misgar (7%).

While in terms of community care, Ms Mufti again scored over others with 52%, followed by Congress’s Shah (32%), NC’s Misgar (10%) and others (6%).

Pertinently, CVOTER is in poll analysis business from last two decades. It is into both, print as well as electronic media, social research, market research and consultancy services.
