Moments after Eid prayers concluded in Ahalhadis Eidgah in Asajipora and Hanafia Eidgah in South Kashmir’s Islamabad, clashes erupted between cops and a section of the people.
Youth who clashed with the cops said they felt provoked by massive deployments around the Eidgah and within the town. As the resorted to brick-bating, cops retaliated with teargas shells, witnesses said.
Infact, witnesses alleged that cops fired a few tear-smoke canisters into the Eidgah. This led to various individuals including women felling unconscious in the Eidgah grounds, reports added.
Police sources said that a number of youth were injured in the clashes besides 9 security men. Three of the injured security men injured in stone pelting were cops. All the injured were shifted to the district hospital for treatment.
