To ensure “dignified win of sister,” in the Islamabad By-Polls, right wing BJP Sunday held workers meet in Khanabal, asking “Lotus supporters” to press “Pen-Inkpot” on the Election Day – June 22.
Just two days to go for Islamabad By-Polls, BJP is supporting the coalition partner PDP and this was first open meet held by BJP to express its support.
Islamabad seat fell vacant after former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed breathed his last on January 07 early this year. Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti is fighting the elections to retain her father’s seat.
The meeting of over hundred workers was chaired by BJP MLC Sofi Yousuf at his residence in Khanabal with other BJP district president members including Rafiq Ahmad Wani present.
Sofi told workers, “this meeting is being held to remind you again that your vote in the elections goes to our sister who is Chief Minister of our state. She is daughter of the visionary leader late Mufti Mohammad Sayed, whose mission was to bring peace and development in this state. She is in politics by learning under his shadow of this great man and she will carry his mission of prosperity ahead.”
While praising the policies of former Chief Minister, Sofi said, “it is because of Mufti Sahab that we are walking with dignity on streets. No one asks us why we have beard on our face today.”
Sofi reminded workers, “the Ikhwan had turned this place hell and it was he (Mufti Sayeed) who wiped out them for all and saved our people.”
“Great Islamic leader of South Kashmir Qazi Nisar was also assassinated by the same people,” he added.
Notably, Sunday marked 22nd death anniversary of Qazi Nisar who was killed on this day in 1994 by unidentified gun men.
He told workers that it was “their responsibility to vote for Ms Mehbooba Mufti as she is heading with her father’s agenda and contesting from his assembly seat”.
“Our sister’s win is decisive, we are supporting her to make sure that she wins with grand margin,” he said.
“We were supporting PDP from ground zero; the aim of today’s meeting was just to check status of campaigning by our workers,” Sofi said while reacting to the question from reporters, “that is why BJP held meeting in the last days and not earlier”
“It is mission and understanding of (Narendra) Modi ji and Mufti Sahab that we have to take forward with our coalition partner and Mehbooba ji is our head. So it is responsibility of our party to make sure our people vote her,” he added.
