A complete shutdown is being observed in Islamabad district on Saturday.

Locals alleged that a tear gas shell landed into a residential house in Reshi Bazar in old town on Friday which burst four houses into flames.

Scores of the youth assembled in main town Islamabad raising pro freedom slogans against the “highhandedness of police”.  Clashes between youth and forces are going in the area.

All the business establishments, schools and government offices are shut.

Meanwhile a local trader’s body of Islamabad carried out a protest rally in main town Lal Chowk Islamabad to protest the forces’ highhandedness.

On Friday, police in the district resorted to massive tear smoke shelling on the civilian protesters who were protesting against the killing of Hizb commander Sabzar Bhat. Bhat was killed in an encounter in Saimoh village of Tral last Saturday.

Reports said that one of the shells landed on one of the four houses which led to a massive inferno. All the four houses were gutted in the blaze.

Police version

With reference to news circulated by some news groups on social networking sites regarding the fire incident at Anantnag.

District police Anantnag has clarified that Police has been absolutely careful in dealing with the situation. The cause of fire is under investigation. The police along with the civil administration and fire service tried best to control the fire amidst stone pelting by some miscreants. The incident of tear shell was in the afternoon and the fire incident happened in the evening. We urge the traders and public to cooperate and should they have any grievances we will try and resolve it.
