Majority of the areas of Islamabad district Thursday remained cut off from the district headquarters as the authorities failed to clear the roads of snow.

“Despite improvement in weather majority of the main roads in Islamabad district remained covered with snow till evening as the authorities did not bother to clear the roads,” locals complained.

However, officials said that frozen snow has made the snow clearance job difficult at certain places.

“We have pressed into service men and machinery and have cleared all the main roads but since the inner layer of the snow has frozen that hampered our efforts at certain places like Dooru Shahabad,” an official said.

Due to the slippery road conditions transport in most parts of Islamabad district remained off the roads and people had to face immense hardships.

“The transport on Islamabad-Kokernag and Islamabad-Dooru-Verinag road, Islamabad- Shangus road remained off due to slippery road conditions even as authorities occasionally pressed into service snow clearance machines,” residents said. They said that all the interior roads are covered with snow.
