Police on Thursday sought four days remand of incarcerated Hurriyat Conference (G) leader and Muslim League chairman, Masarat Alam Bhat.

Sources said that the court of Second Munsif Srinagar sent Masarat to a four days police remand.

Earlier, Masarat was shifted from district jail Baramulla to police station Shaheed Gunj, after a Srinagar court granted bail to him on Wednesday.

“Police sought Masarat saheb’s remand under FIR No 128 police station Sadar,” a Muslim League spokesperson informed.

He said that a court had granted bail to him in a case registered in 2010 however, police instead of releasing Masarat Alam, sought his remand in another case of 2010.

“Different courts have granted as many as forty bails for Masarat Alam since 2010,” the spokesman added.
