GAZA: An Israeli airstrike on Thursday afternoon targeted a school in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 28 Palestinians and injuring over 54, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. The school was sheltering displaced civilians.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported via social media platform X that its teams responded to the attack on Rafida School, located near the PRCS headquarters in Deir al-Balah. Emergency crews recovered the bodies, including women and children, with some victims severely dismembered, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
In a statement, the Israeli military claimed responsibility for what they called a “precise strike” on a command center inside the school compound, which they said was being used by militants to plan attacks on Israeli forces. They emphasized measures taken to minimize civilian casualties, such as aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and the use of precision munitions. The military further accused Hamas of operating from within civilian areas.
