Israeli Military Apologises for Posting Incorrect India Map

SRINAGAR: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a public apology on Saturday after sharing a map on social media that incorrectly depicted Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan, sparking widespread outrage in India. The map, intended to illustrate the range of Iranian missiles amid escalating tensions with Tehran, also misrepresented India’s northeastern states as part of Nepal.

Indian social media users quickly flagged the error, expressing anger over the misrepresentation of India’s territorial boundaries and tagging top Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The backlash prompted the IDF to clarify that the map was merely an illustration and “fails to precisely depict borders,” adding, “We apologise for any offence caused by this image”

The controversy has ignited debate over diplomatic sensitivities and the importance of accurate cartographic representation in international communications.
