“ACB received a complaint against Head Constable Roshan Din (No. 432/K), who was investigating FIR No. 193/2025 at Police Station Kathua. The complainant alleged that the constable demanded a bribe to remove his name from the list of accused persons, despite submitting CCTV footage and factory attendance records to prove his innocence,” ACB spokesman said in a statement.

“The accused initially demanded ₹25,000 but later agreed to accept ₹15,000 after negotiation.”

The complainant approached ACB instead of paying the bribe. “Upon receiving the complaint, a discreet verification was conducted, which confirmed the demand. Subsequently, FIR No. 12/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered at Police Station ACB Jammu and investigation was initiated. A trap team led by a Gazetted officer was formed. The accused accepted the bribe from the complainant, but upon sensing ACB’s presence, fled the scene and threw the tainted money into nearby bushes along the National Highway near Palli,” it reads,

The tainted money was later recovered from the bushes by independent witnesses and seized.

“A search of the accused’s residence was also conducted in the presence of a magistrate and independent witnesses. The accused remains absconding and further investigation is underway,” the statement reads. (KNO)
