Scores of students pursuing Computer Operator Programming Assistant (COPA) course at ITI Srinagar Friday alleged that their careers have been put at stake by Technical Board as the Board has done wrong evaluation of their second semester examination papers.
The students mostly girls appeared in Press Enclave Srinagar and staged a protest against the Technical Board ITI situated at Bagh-e-Dilawar Khan Srinagar. Talking to reporters, the students said that ITI Srinagar conducted their examination of two subjects, namely, Computer Theory and Employability Skill in August last year. They said both the papers were of Multiple Choice nature and it took Board five months to declare result.
“We were shocked to see the result. Only three students have been shown qualified while rest of all including toppers were shown failed. We doubt the authenticity of the results as the Board refused to show us our question papers. On what basis, the Board can deny us our papers. We want to see where we are wrong. This in injustice towards us and the Board including the Principal is hell-bent to spoil our careers,” the protestors said.
The said that there is no reason for the Board to hide the Answer Papers. “In the first semester, I topped the list and how come it is possible that I will not qualify in the second semester. There is something fishy and we want justice,” said a student adding that the Principal ITI hardly bothers about the ‘grave’ issue.
When contacted, an ITI employee on condition of anonymity said that Principal is out of station but added that injustice has been done with the students. “It is not the COPA students who have suffered, but same has happened with the students pursuing ‘Stenography’ and ‘Cutting and Sewing’ courses,” he added.
