SRINAGAR: An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Goli-Gadi forests in the upper reaches of Doda district this evening, officials said.
An official said that following inputs about the presence of militants in the area, a cordon and search operation was launched in the Goli area.
He said that during the search operation, hiding militants fired upon security forces, which was retaliated against, triggering an encounter.
“The exchange of fire is ongoing as of the latest reports,” he said, adding that further details will be shared accordingly — (KNO)
