Jammu and Kashmir: Railway Police Returns Bag With Rs 30,000 to Owner, Wins Praise for Integrity

   

SRINAGAR: In a commendable act of honesty and professionalism, the Railway Police wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police traced the rightful owner of an unclaimed bag containing Rs 30,000 in cash and returned it, winning widespread appreciation for its integrity and public service.

The incident occurred on Friday when Special Police Officer Umar, posted in the Railway Security Branch (RSB) section of Railway Police Kashmir, discovered an unattended bag in the last coach of a down train. Acting swiftly, SPO Umar secured the bag and launched efforts to identify the owner.

Following the laid-down procedure, possible claimants were contacted. The efforts bore fruit when Iftikhar Naseem reached out to the Railway Police to report the loss. After his identity and ownership of the bag were thoroughly verified, the bag was formally handed over to him by the In-Charge of the RSB Section in the presence of the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Railway Police Station Srinagar, ensuring full transparency.
