SRINAGAR: The District Administration in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir has launched a crackdown on illegal transportation and black marketing of LPG cylinders, with police seizing 124 cylinders during routine naka checking at multiple locations in the district.

According to officials, a load carrier bearing registration number JK03Q-7873, coming from Nowgam, was intercepted during checking. Police recovered 24 LPG cylinders from the vehicle. The driver and two co-drivers were questioned but failed to produce valid documents or offer a satisfactory explanation.
In a separate operation at Jawahar Tunnel, a TATA 407 vehicle bearing registration number JK02DD-0915, arriving from the Kashmir side, was stopped during routine checking. Police recovered 100 LPG cylinders from the vehicle, with the driver unable to justify or provide documentation for the transport.
Officials said both cases were booked under Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act for violation of supply regulations.
