SRINAGAR: Speaker of the Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly (JKLA), Abdul Rahim Rather, created a historic milestone by presiding over all 22 sittings of the recently concluded Budget Session.

Demonstrating exceptional dedication, the Speaker personally chaired proceedings for 102.35 hours out of the total 110.36 hours, while three members from the panel of Chairmen collectively presided over the remaining 8 hours. In the absence of a Deputy Speaker, this marks a first-of-its-kind achievement in the Assembly’s history.
Despite challenges, the Speaker’s consistent presence and proactive leadership ensured the smooth and efficient conduct of legislative business, earning widespread admiration. Members across party lines lauded his unwavering commitment, describing his efforts as exemplary and an inspiration for parliamentary duty.
