SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather has convened an all-party meeting on Thursday, ahead of the 10-day autumn session scheduled to begin on September 21.
The Assembly Secretariat has asked party leaders and members of the Business Advisory Committee to attend the meeting at 2 pm in the Assembly complex.
According to a letter issued by the Secretariat, the Speaker has invited Leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Sharma of the BJP, Ali Muhammad Sagar and Mubarak Gul of the National Conference, CPI(M) leader Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Peoples Conference chief Sajad Gani Lone, PDP leader Mir Muhammad Fayaz and Independent MLA Choudhary Muhammad Akram.
The meeting is being held ahead of the session, during which the opposition is expected to raise a range of governance and administrative issues.
The BJP has also started preparations for the session, with Sharma scheduled to chair a meeting of the party’s legislators at its headquarters in Jammu on Tuesday.
As per the Assembly Secretariat’s calendar, four days have been allocated for government business, while three days have been set aside for Private Members’ Bills and resolutions. Of these, two days are earmarked for Private Members’ Bills.
The government is expected to introduce four Bills during the session.
