SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will hold a detailed discussion on the shortage and non-availability of essential construction materials across the Union Territory in its next session, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather said during the concluding proceedings of the House.
The issue was raised by several legislators, who highlighted difficulties caused by the shortage of construction materials in their respective areas and sought an opportunity for a detailed discussion on its impact on construction and developmental activities.
Rather said the matter had been raised by a number of members and would be taken up in detail during the next session, allowing legislators to discuss the difficulties and suggest measures to address them.
Pending the discussion, the Speaker said the Government could take necessary corrective measures to improve the availability of essential construction materials across Jammu and Kashmir.
Legislators Javid Hassan Baig, Saifuddin Bhat, Ajaz Ahmad Jan, Hilal Akbar Lone and Rajeev Jasrotia had earlier raised the issue during the House proceedings.
