Jammu Kashmir: Authorities Demolish Illegal Properties Worth Over Rs 3 Crore Linked to Drug Trafficking

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir authorities on Saturday demolished several illegally constructed structures, including houses allegedly built using proceeds from the narcotics trade, during a joint anti-drug operation in Jammu district, officials said.

The demolition drive was carried out jointly by the Jammu district administration and police in the Nikki Tawi and Bishnah areas. Officials said illegal properties worth more than Rs 3 crore, allegedly linked to drug trafficking, were razed during the operation. They added that heroin and illegal weapons had also been recovered from the accused in the related cases.

According to officials, a joint team demolished a double-storey structure valued at around Rs 1.5 crore at Ismailpur Kothey in tehsil Bishnah.

Another joint team demolished properties belonging to two alleged drug peddlers with an estimated value of about Rs 1.3 crore and also removed encroachments from illegally occupied land in the Nikki Tawi area.

In a separate action in Samba district, police attached property worth approximately Rs 21 lakh, including a kaccha house belonging to an alleged woman drug peddler at Upper Balole in the Bari Brahmana area.

A police spokesperson said the attachment was carried out under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
