SRINAGAR: Mohd Ayaz Raina, Lecturer in Botany at Government Higher Secondary School (HSS) Dalhori in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir has been selected for the National Award to Teachers 2026, becoming the only awardee from Jammu and Kashmir this year.
The award will be conferred on Teachers’ Day on September 5, recognising Raina’s contribution to education over the past 13 years.
Raina said the honour was not solely a personal achievement but recognition of the collective efforts of his students, colleagues, educational institutions and family members who supported him throughout his career.
He has previously received several awards, including the National ICT Award 2017, JK UT Best Teacher Award 2021, Global Teacher Award 2021 and Global Best Educational Poster Award 2020.
His selection has brought recognition to Rajouri and the wider education fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly highlighting the contribution of teachers working in remote and geographically challenging areas.
