SRINAGAR: The Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir has directed all principals, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) and headmasters in the district not to leave their headquarters or places of posting without prior formal permission.
In a circular dated September 14, the CEO said instances had been observed of the officials leaving their stations without permission, which, according to the order, was affecting administrative functioning, routine monitoring and the academic environment of educational institutions during working days and hours.
The circular also took exception to officials using text messages to seek leave or permission for duty, stating that such requests were not acceptable.
The CEO warned that any unauthorised movement, absence from headquarters without sanctioned leave or non-compliance with the directions would be treated as a serious dereliction of duty and conduct unbecoming of a government officer.
It said disciplinary action under the relevant Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services Rules would be initiated against officials found violating the directions without further notice.
The district nodal officers for the J&K Smart Attendance/Biometric Attendance system have also been directed not to approve leave or duty requests from the concerned officials unless a copy of the formal permission order is submitted.
