SRINAGAR: Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions in Jammu and Kashmir have registered 534 consumer complaints and disposed of 227 cases through the Centre’s e-Jagriti digital platform since its launch on 1 January 2025, according to information tabled in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said the AI-enabled e-Jagriti portal was introduced to modernise consumer dispute resolution by integrating existing systems into a single digital platform for online complaint filing, document submission, fee payment, virtual hearings and case management.
Official data showed that the Jammu and Kashmir State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission registered 317 cases and disposed of 84 in 2025. During the first six months of 2026, it received another 217 complaints and disposed of 143 cases, taking the total to 534 cases filed and 227 disposed of since the platform became operational.
The ministry informed Parliament that the portal is now functional across the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions, Circuit Benches and District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions throughout the country.
Nationally, consumer commissions registered 1,62,896 cases and disposed of 1,50,581 during 2025, surpassing the disposal rate recorded in 2024. Between January and June 2026, another 82,112 cases were filed and 70,176 disposed of.
The government said e-Jagriti has reduced dependence on physical proceedings by enabling virtual courtrooms, digital case records, automated cause lists, online notices and multilingual services. Video conferencing facilities have been installed at all 10 benches of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and 35 benches of State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions.
Replying to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs B.L. Verma said the Department of Consumer Affairs regularly reviews the platform’s implementation through meetings with consumer commissions and bar representatives. He added that technical support staff, online tutorials, FAQs and weekly Jansunwai sessions have been introduced to help consumers use the portal and improve digital access.
The ministry also said the e-Jagriti platform received the Silver Award under Category-I at the National Awards for e-Governance 2026 and that 1,021 Non-Resident Indians had filed complaints through the portal from abroad up to 17 July 2026.
