The official said that the Defence Minister will interact with soldiers and commend them for the successful conduct of Operation Sindoor, which was launched last week against terror camps in Pakistan.

In addition to visiting the Jammu airbase, Singh will tour forward posts in the Poonch sector. “The visit aims to boost troop morale and acknowledge their role in the operation against Pakistan,” the official said.

The visit follows Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the killing of 26 civilians during a major terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. India reportedly targeted and destroyed terror infrastructure across the border as part of this operation.

Subsequently, Pakistan attempted drone and missile attacks on Indian Army installations and violated the ceasefire along both the Line of Control and the International Border. These attempts were promptly and effectively thwarted by Indian forces.

This marks the first reported use of indigenous air defence systems by India to intercept aerial threats across several states, including Jammu and Kashmir, between May 7 and 10.

Pakistan also targeted civilian areas in Rajouri, Poonch, Uri, Karnah, Keran, Ferozpur, Jaisalmer, and other locations, resulting in civilian casualties. Among the deceased was the Additional District Development Commissioner of Rajouri.

The Indian Army responded immediately and effectively, while the Indian Air Force carried out precise air strikes inside Pakistani territory without crossing the Line of Control or the International Border. (KNO)
